put up more virtual players
posted by emerson @ | Replies [1] | Last Update @
I think the idea of restricting virtual play to those who put in hours of actual play is good. But I think you also need to maintain some minimal number of virtual players in the rankings to make it interesting. I would suggest 100. Drop players off using the method you now do until the total number in the rankings drops to 100.
I say this only because the site appears to be dying. People are losing interest. When the place looks dead it speeds this process.
I'm not sure what the ultimate business plan is. But I would suggest that you market software. I am talking about software that includes bot making ability and a Sonia who plays the games. Make it allow for high speed simulations. There is a big need for software that can simulate situations against realistic opponents. Include programmable pre-flop options so that the profitability of various strategies can be compared.
Turbo Texas Holdem almost does this, but you have the capability to create a far superior program that would sell well. Allow people on this site to upload virtual players they have created at home to play against other bots, as they do on Poker Academy. The Poker Academy software does not allow for high speed simulations.

different styles excel at different levels
posted by NewOrleans @ | Replies [0] | Last Update @
Since the upgrade my virtual self has had a strange performance. It beats the 10/20 game for 1.8BB/100 over more than 16K hands. Yet it loses at the 1/2 level for .6BB/100 with an 89K sample. The style must be better suited for the robots playing at higher levels. If it didn't ever go on a lucky streak playing at 1/2, allowing it to move up, I may have never seen this.
I suspect the opposite is true for many bots. There must be some that smash the lower limits and then lose after they move up.

Why can't I see more than 3k hands?
posted by PokerYoda @ | Replies [1] | Last Update @
For my veritual self no matter what setting I select I can only see around 2.7k hands. I've tried having the Don't show from before update box checked and unchecked. I've tried showing the last 40 session and all sessions. Any thoughts?
